Sharing a Message of Hope! Jan – March 2007 Update

Greetings from the Mission Field! I pray that this update will minister to, challenge and encourage all who read it.

In February I spent some time in New Orleans and ministering at Mardi Gras. On one occasion, I was taken down to the 9th ward area that we’ve heard so much about with the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. It was much more devastating than we were told. One interesting thing was brought to my attention that we didn’t hear about in the media, was that as the people were trying to get to higher ground to escape the flooding, critters did the same. Not only were people on roof tops, but snakes, spiders and other types of multi-legged creatures were on the roofs trying to escape the flooding. This is after all, a swamp area. Infested with alligators, snakes and the like. So, it gave me even more compassion for what so many went through during that time.

At Mardi Gras, the crowds didn’t seem as large as past years, although there were thousands of people. I was able to minister and pray with many people that were truly divine appointments. During this time the Lord was showing me how the enemy is at work. The first way is by imitation and baring false witness even through the saints. For instance, I have had several people ask me about an e-mail that is being passed around by believers. The e-mail says that Billy Graham had a crusade in New Orleans during Mardi Gras and that the last night of the crusade he and his son Franklin along with 16,000 crusaders marched from the Super Dome (over a mile) to Bourbon St. They were singing and praising the Lord. Reports were that people on Bourbon St. were joining in raising their hands toward Heaven, falling out in the spirit, and dropping to their knees in prayer.

Unfortunately Billy, Franklin and the 16,000 crusaders were not there. This is where the enemy is using the saints to bare false witness by passing around bogus emails. We are called to be Ministers of truth and righteousness.

The second part is the imitation of worship. I saw people in the streets of New Orleans with there hands raised, not asking to be crowned in Christ righteousness but to be crowned with jewels for riotous acts.

Romans 1:22-25 says: “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen”.

I saw people falling out not from the Holy Spirit but from the spirit of drunkenness.

Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

I saw people on their knees praying not to the one true God to be purged of their sin, but to the god of alcohol to be purged of their consumption.

Psalm 51:7-10 David prayed, Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Only Jesus can purge us and wash us whiter than snow.

We can’t wait for Billy and Franklin Graham to save the world. God has called each one of us to be a light to the world and a soul winner. Text Box: The Lord showed me Joe as he was walking in the crowd, I knew I had to talk with him. When I approached him he looked at me with an empty stair. As we talked I found out that he and his wife were separated mostly because he was falling back into his old ways. He was so hurting that he was considering suicide. After ministering to him and much prayer I gave him a hug and at that moment I could feel a heaviness leave him as he melted into my embrace and began to weep. I believe that God is restoring Joe and his marriage. GLORY! Prov.11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that wins souls is wise.

Please Pray for Joe.
He was truly a Divine appointment.

At Mardi Gras (and Dayton Bike week) night after night I would talk to numerous people. They were all very drunk and had the same basic reply to the Gospel. “I am ok, I go to church every Sunday. God is looking down at me and saying, “you’re ok. You are just enjoying life and having fun.”

The sad part is that I believe that they do go to church. If this is a picture of the church of America no wonder our nation is such a mess. Murders, drugs, rape, gangs and all sort of wickedness is at an all time high. Just listen to the language we use, it is bible prophecy being fulfilled.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who say to evil, good; and to good, evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Psalms 52:3 You love evil more than good, lying more than to speak righteousness.

As I was standing in the streets the Lord gave me a vision. Envisioning an army like the Roman army with their helmets, breastplates, shield, sword, loin guard, shin and foot armor. I began to see an army walking before me but this army was different. All of the soldiers were only wearing helmets. I asked, Lord why only helmets? He replied, there is a helmet epidemic. People are being taught just say this prayer and you will be ok. They believe that they are putting on the “helmet of salvation” but they are neither willing nor being taught to put on the full armor of God. (Read Ephesians 6:11-17) Because of this the fiery darts of the enemy, i.e. deception, lust, drunkenness, idolatry, self-worship and many other darts are hitting their target. Causing people to be deceived into thinking that they can live a wayward life style and God is pleased as long as they are having fun. I believe that much of this is coming from the watered down Gospel of seeker friendly churches and the Jesus loves you message that allows people to say a prayer and never change their life style.

1Corinthians 1:17-18 “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

How can there be change if there is no power of God through the truth of His word. People can’t cleanse themselves. If they could then Christ died in vain. If we truly want to see the power of God bring salvation and restoration of souls we cannot tolerate the ear tickling, powerless, feel good preaching that has plagued this nation. Just so we can fill the church and send people to hell from their pews.

Matthew 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (In other words they use the name of God to teach what ever benefits them)

Psalms 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.

Over 90% of church growth in the U.S. is from church swapping. People going from church to church looking for the best entertainment (worship) or kids/youth program (baby sitting) that they can find. It’s startling to know that 30% of “Christians” don’t believe the Bible to be true. 2007 statistics show that there are over 100 million un-churched people in the U.S. This is up 22% since 1994. At this rate, where will we be in 2020? No wonder there are thousands of young people joining gangs, running around on 200mph sport motorcycles, setting the stage for attitude and violence that will make the old biker gangs look like school crossing guards.

Church, we have to wake up and learn not only how to win the lost but to make it a priority! There are churches that have been saying for years and years and years that they are going to reach the lost. Yet they are still not getting it done. I see people witnessing that have signs that say, “God hates this or God hates that” or the sign is so offensive it only provokes argument. I see others that have their arms crossed and wear such a sour facial expression & attitude that no one would take a tract or want to converse with them. Why do we want the attitude of the world? The JOY of the LORD is my strength.

The Bible says that he that wins souls is wise. Not obnoxious, arrogant, boisterous, or having an attitude that reeks of “I am better than you”. I am not speaking condemnation; only know that there is a season of change needed if we are going to see a true harvest that will bear fruit.

As I bring this to a close I want to say that this year I desire to reach more people and touch more lives with the power of God than ever before.

I am asking for more help and partners to fulfill this command to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.
